How old you have to be to rent a car depends on the country (or state) where you would like to rent. In some countries, it is 18; in others, 21; and in some, even older. Each rental company has its own rules, but if you’re under 25, you’ll probably have to pay a Young Driver fee. Some car types, like luxury and sports cars, might also have minimum age restrictions.
🔎 The easiest way to check is to enter your age while searching for offers on our website. We’ll only show you the cars you can rent. If there’s a Young Driver fee, you’ll see it included in the price.
ℹ️ Most rental suppliers will require your driver’s license to have been valid for at least one year before you start your rental, but some might ask for more driving experience. Usually, learner’s permits aren't accepted.
You can find more details in the Driver Requirements section of the Rental Conditions. The same conditions also apply to any additional drivers.
