🧾A Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) is a type of protection that limits how much you’d have to pay if your rental car gets damaged. It’s not exactly insurance, but rather an agreement between you and the rental company that reduces your financial responsibility in case of an accident, scratches, or other damage.

💵 Usually, the CDW is included in the rental price, but it often comes with an excess (or deductible)—the maximum amount you’d have to pay before the waiver covers the rest. The exact terms depend on the rental supplier and the car category. 

❌ However, it’s important to note that a CDW doesn’t cover everything. Damage to tires, windows, undercarriage, or even theft may not be included unless you purchase additional coverage. 

🌎 In Europe and many other countries, CDW is usually included in your offer and in most cases can not be declined. While in the Americas, you can bring your own insurance or credit card policy, or purchase it from the rental supplier.
