The rental supplier needs to ensure the car is ready and waiting for you when you arrive. However, parking spaces can be limited, particularly at busy airports.
⌛ Most car rental suppliers provide a grace period for picking up vehicles because they understand unforeseen things, like flight delays, long security lines, or bad weather, can occur. This grace period gives you a little extra time (within the rental company's operating hours) after your scheduled pick-up time, where you won't face any penalties or cancellations. Typically, this lasts anywhere from 30 minutes to a few hours. During this time, your reservation is safe, and there are no additional charges. You can find the grace period on your voucher, together with the business hours of your rental supplier.
⛔ If you don't arrive at the agreed-upon pick-up time, the rental company may assume that you won't be coming, and after the grace period, your booking will be marked as a no-show. This means the reservation will be canceled without a refund, and the vehicle might be made available to another customer. More information can be found in the article ‘What happens if I am running late or my flight is delayed?’.
If you’re picking up a car from an airport, we suggest choosing a pick-up time between one and two hours after your scheduled flight arrival time.
